In armed conflicts and natural disasters more than half of the affected population is under the age of 18. Children are more exposed and vulnerable than adults in an emergency and only by considering their special needs of protection can we improve their possibilities to safety, survival and development. Therefore organizations that work in emergencies need to be aware of the rights of the child and of children’s special protection needs and in their planning, programs and daily work, give special consideration on how to better protect children in emergencies.

Do not miss out on our Thematic Videos on related areas of humanitarian action.

Objective
The objective of the course is to enhance the knowledge about the rights of the child in armed conflicts and natural disasters and child protection so that participants can contribute to a more child focused effort in humanitarian actions and to give them a better possibility to perform child protection in their field work.
